Heavy police presence at Northern Credit Union (3 photos)

Police searched the surrounding bushes and parking lot

There was a heavy police presence outside the Northern Credit Union at Second Line West and Goulais Avenue Friday morning.

Between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was observed searching through a wooded area around the Northern Credit Union, and looking around the parking lot and into the back of cars and pickup trucks.

Officers were seen inside area apartments and throughout the parking lot immediately north of the bank as well.

The department's Tactical Emergency Services Unit was on scene.
