NEWS RELEASE
ST. VINCENT PLACE
*************************
St. Vincent Place’s annual Coldest Night of the Year event is coming up fast, and we’d love to see you out walking with us on Feb. 22.

That’s the night that hundreds of Saultites will join thousands of others across Canada in walking to raise funds in support of the hungry, homeless, and hurting. Registration for the family-friendly event will start at St. Vincent Place at 4 p.m., during which participants can get their faces painted by Janna from Perfectly Painted Faces.

At 5 p.m. the walk will begin and participants will head out on the 2, 5, or 10 km routes downtown. Walkers will have access to two rest stops along the way where they can enjoy hot chocolate and snacks.

After the walk, participants will gather again at St. Vincent Place to enjoy some sweet treats and hot chocolate provided by Scott Coffee Co, and delicious chili to warm up.

This is St. Vincent Place’s eighth year taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year walk, and we’re aiming to raise $65,000 to help us give hope to the Sault’s hungry and homeless. To help us hit that goal, we’re issuing a challenge to all walkers.

Local businessman Joe Ruscio is a dedicated St. Vincent Place volunteer, last year raising a whopping $16,000. Because Joe is on track to have another strong year, we’re challenging all walkers to try to beat Joe’s fundraising total and be crowned the Coldest Night champion of Sault Ste. Marie. That champion will also win a brand new St. Vincent Place hoody.

There’s still time to sign up and raise funds (and challenge Joe), so if you’d like your own iconic Coldest Night of the Year toque, register today to join us on Feb. 22.

St. Vincent Place would like to add a thank you to all of this year’s Event Sponsors: Soapy’z Auto Wash, RM Frolich, Avery Construction, S&T Group, Maitland Ford Lincoln, Dawson & Keenan, Assante Capital Management, and McDougall Energy.
