Auditor General Sheila Fraser says the Harper government may have acted illegally and misinformed Parliament about $50 million in G8 spending in the riding of Conservative Industry Minister Tony Clement.

Fraser's findings are in a confidential report that was to have been tabled in Parliament on April 5.

The release date was postponed when the government fell.

However, The Canadian Press has reportedly seen the part of the document - possibly in draft form - that examines the G8 legacy infrastructure spending in question.

The report claims 32 projects secured funding without consideration of the G8 summit's real needs or the government's own conditions for approval.
