Hail falls as thunderstorm hits St. Joseph Island

A severe thunderstorm rolled through the area this evening and it certainly left a mark.

While Sault Ste. Marie was hit primarily with heavy rain, St. Joseph Island saw some of the hail anticipated by Environment Canada in an earlier severe thunderstorm warning.

South of the Sault, Gaylord, Mich. was hit with a tornado.

Damage in the city is extensive. There is no word yet on injuries or casualties, according to the Associated Press.
