Glass from pickup truck shatters on Second Line West (3 photos)

Police say it's important to make sure your load is safe

Glass fell out of a white Dodge pickup truck and shattered on Second Line West near Peoples road just after 9 a.m. Friday morning.

“The vehicle turned and the glass fell out the back of the truck. The driver was given a ticket for an insecure load and the area was cleaned,” said Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Const. Sonny Spina.

Shortly after the incident, police blocked off one lane on Second Line West and some of the glass had been swept up.

Spina said there were no injuries and the only damage was to truck — it got a flat tire.

Spina said that it’s difficult to give general safety advice about making sure loads are secure.

“The onus is on the driver to make sure that the load they are carrying is secure. There’s no blanket advice we can give to everybody that will work in every circumstance, but people are encouraged to make sure their loads are safe before they travel,” he said.
