Give your favourite teacher or coach a break, send them to the Best Seats in the House

Nominations are now open for December's Best Seats in the House tickets

SooToday is once again partnering with our friends at Mio's Furniture Fashions for a monthly ticket giveaway to the Best Seats in the House for a prime view as the Soo Greyhounds take the ice!

This month, we would like to highlight the hardworking and dedicated teachers and coaches in our city.

If you know a local teacher or coach who goes above and beyond for their students or teams, and sets a great example for fellow educators and mentors, tell us about them by filling out this quick form

We will be choosing three people from the nominations submitted to surprise with tickets to the Best Seats in the House.

The lucky recipients will enjoy a Soo Greyhounds game in style, seated in two leather La-Z-Boy recliners from Mio's Furniture Fashions, with a perfect view of the on-ice action.

One nominee will be selected for each of the following games: Dec. 5, Dec. 7, and Dec. 9.

Nominate someone today to give them a game night to remember. Nominations close end of day on Sunday, Dec. 2.

Our call for nominations for November's seats were for outstanding local service people. We asked for local heroes, and you delivered!

Some of the people who sat in the special seats this month include:

Robert Fischer, a local veteran who has done multiple tours and dedicated his life to serving his country and community.

Barry Desmoulin, a local officer with the Anishinabek Police Service. Barry is a shining example of being positive in the face of adversity and loss, and is inspiring to family and friends around him.

Tina McLarty is a veteran who served our country for 25 years. She now serves our community through volunteer work, including faithfully fundraising for the Cancer Society.

Bill MacPherson, who has worked in the social service field for over 30 years, and has made it a personal mission to raise awareness of issues such as mental health and addictions through his role as co-director and programmer for the Shadows of the Mind Film festival.

Congratulations to November's recipients!
