ALGOMA PUBLIC HEALTH

Promoting a healthy lifestyle is an essential part of the work done in public health. To encourage our district to live a healthier life and to celebrate 50 years of public health, Algoma Public Health has launched a two-month long ‘Get Active Algoma’ contest.

The contest is run on an app called GooseChase which allows individuals or teams to complete a mission and then upload the evidence with a photo, video or text-based answer. The app is available for Android and Apple devices.

“We want people to minimize screen time and focus on healthy activities with family and friends,” says Dr. Marlene Spruyt, medical officer of health for Algoma Public Health.

Missions range from completing simple physical activities to cooking a healthy meal.

The contest runs from the week of March 19 to May 31, 2018. Everyone living in the district of Algoma is encouraged to play. To participate:

  • Download the free GooseChase app on your android or apple devices
  • Search and join game 'Get Active Algoma'
  • Encourage friends/family to join your team and earn points for every mission completed

Our grand prize is a $600 bike voucher with numerous bonus prizes up for grabs.
