Algoma Public Health is encouraging students 12+, parents, and teachers to get fully vaccinated before the 2021-2022 school year starts.

The health unit is reminding residents that, with six weeks left of summer, there is still time to get fully vaccinated before class resumes.

The full news release from APH reads as follows:

With only 6 weeks left until the start of the new school year, now is the time to put immunization against COVID-19 at the top of your summer to-do list.

Parents, teachers, and students aged 12 and up who still need their first dose of vaccine still have time to get their 1st and 2nd dose and be fully immunized before the start of the school year. You need to wait 28 days between your 1st and 2nd dose.

Students attending college or university in the fall should also check if their post-secondary institutions have any immunization policies or requirements.

Over 10,000 new appointments have now been added to clinics at the GFL Memorial Gardens throughout the month of August. These clinics are for first or second dose appointments.

To make an appointment and to see the full list of clinic dates, visit our booking site or call 705-541-7370 or Toll Free 1-888-440-3730.

For a listing of clinics in the Algoma district region, visit our website. You can also get your vaccination at participating pharmacies.
