Genesio Paciocco, a name not unknown to readers of SooToday.com's editorial forums, has made the news today.

Paciocco (who's recently angered some SooToday.com readers by repeatedly using our forums to solicit money for the federal NDP, for which he's seeking the local nomination) was injured in an accident yesterday at the intersection of Albert and Blucher streets.

City Police report that Paciocco, 42, of Nixon Road was traveling east on Albert Street at 10:39 a.m. when a car pulled onto Albert from Blucher, resulting in the collision,

Paciocco suffered minor injuries.

Driver of the other vehicle, 83-year-old Guido Cedolia, 83 of North Street, was charged with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway.

Craig Smith gets busted

In an unrelated matter, the Joint Forces Drug Unit has charged Craig William Smith, 33, of Albert Street East with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Smith was found with 235 grams of cannabis resin (hash oil) with an estimated street value of $4,680.

His next court date is March 8.
