Not only is the Gateway project going ahead, it's possibly going to be bigger than originally expected, Mayor John Rowswell disclosed tonight.

Speaking to the Sault and District Homebuilders' Association, Rowswell said that intensive negotiations on the waterfront development are continuing, and he's hopeful construction will begin by the fall of next year.

New partners may be joining the project, which could grow larger than the original $55 million proposal, the mayor said, who added that the process is nonetheless taking longer than he'd like.
