Yesterday's fatal accident in Garden River was caused by a heart attack, Ontario Provincial Police said tonight.

The victim, Norris Boyington of Thunder Bay, suffered a heart attack just prior to the accident, according to findings from a post mortem conducted today.

Boyington's car was going eastbound around 4:15 p.m. on Highway 17 when it crossed the westbound lane, went into a ditch and hit a pole.

Boyington was taken to Sault Area Hospital, where he died a short time later.
