Company Profile

We salute Algoma’s Water Tower Inn for their ongoing marketing efforts to promote Sault Ste. Marie and area as a Sault Ste. Marie Travel destination for both business and pleasure.

In the early 1960's, the Hilsinger family came to Sault Ste. Marie to begin their first business venture, a food distribution business that quickly became a chain of Kentucky Fried Chicken stores.

In 1974, they opened Algoma's Water Tower Inn.

They have added and remodeled the facilities over the years to become known as one of the most luxurious hotels in all of Northern Ontario.

In the fall of 2001, they launched Simply the Best Meeting Results - a collaborative meeting and decision centre. These facilities have been developed into a world-leading communications center and are the most computer-wired & networked facility in Canada.

The facilities within Algoma’s Water Tower Inn encompasse 8200 square feet of space and are individually styled to your meeting needs surrounded by indoor and outdoor landscapes and courtyards.

Most recently they introduced their latest marketing development of Algoma’s Trail Head program, which positions the Inn as the base for exploring the Great Lakes Heritage Coast.

Algoma’s Water Tower Inn together with many adventure partners developed travel packages into 10 travel areas in the Algoma region around Sault Ste. Marie.

The program has now been expanded to include the Mackinaw Trail, the Huron North passage, Manitoulin Island and the Chicheemaun ferry.

This undertaking is one of the finest examples of their superior vision of a marketing strategy and product development that Sault Ste. Marie has received benefit from.

Doing more with less, Algoma’s Water Tower Inn continues to market, package and promote not only for themselves but also for the common good of our community.

The management and marketing staff of Algoma’s Water Tower Inn are constantly thinking, exploring, generating ideas and then creating products for the betterment of our community and the lucrative tourism industry.

Please join me in congratulating Algoma’s Water Tower Inn!
