Dave Beaumont and Lyons TIM-BR Mart

Dave Beaumont and Lyons TIM-BR Mart is the winner of the 2009 Skipper Manzzutti Award for Business Achievement, sponsored by the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce.

Dave's son, Scott Beaumont and manager of the west end store, Angelo Giardino (shown) accepted the award on his behalf.

Named after one of the Chamber's dedicated past presidents, Captain Feliciano “Skipper” Manzzutti, this award recognizes a business person who has, either within the past year or period of years, demonstrated exemplary qualities of an entrepreneur and community-minded citizen.

************************* Lyons TIM-BR Mart has been providing the Sault Ste. Marie community with excellent service and quality products since 1913.

Originally started by the Lyons family, Lyons Building Centre was purchased by Richard Beaumont who was then working as the company accountant in 1952, along with a number of other employees.

Dave Beaumont has been overseeing the local operation since 1988. He and his wife Ruth purchased the company from his family in 1992.

David has been a member of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie for the past nineteen years and currently sits on the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.

He and Ruth have three adult children.

Already a major employer in the community, the company has undergone significant expansion in recent years including a major renovation of the Wellington Street West store followed by the opening of a new Black Road location in the summer of 2010.

This has allowed them to increase staff from approximately 75 just a few years ago to roughly 120 today.

The new location is managed by David’s eldest son Drew.
