As Paul Dalseg made his way back to his seat after presenting the award he sponsors each year at the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce's annual general meeting, John Rowswell's mother made her way to over him.

Gladys Mimms Jarrett warmly shook Dalseg's hand and thanked him for honouring the son she lost to cancer six short weeks ago.

The Paul Dalseg award was given to the Sault's late mayor posthumously last night for his outstanding efforts, contributions, service and commitment to his beloved community.

Accepting it were his sons Don and Joel Rowswell (shown).

Don talked about his pride in his father, urging everyone to continue John Rowswell's efforts to improve the community.

Audience address by Jill Officer, three times Scotties curling champion

SAULT STE. MARIE - Yesterday, local business representatives gathered at the 121st Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting and business awards dinner to celebrate business excellence and the entrepreneurial spirit.

The event featured a keynote address by Jill Officer, three-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion and 2008 women’s curling world champion.

The business awards portion of the event put the spotlight on 11 local chamber-member entrepreneurs and agencies and featured a dynamic video awards component.
