Sault Ste. Marie is "guaranteed" a spot on the upcoming KISS concert tour, Gene Simmons has told the Ottawa Sun.
The Sault placed third in a North America-wide online contest to pick tour spots based on fan demands.
Voting in the contest ended last week, with the Sault garnering 11,315 votes, compared to 14,569 for Oshawa and 12,913 for Winnipeg.
All three communities will have "guaranteed" slots on the tour, but not necessarily in that order, the newspaper was told by Simmons.
“Clearly, these cities are out of their minds,” Simmons told the Sun.
"Gee, I wish I was Canadian.... There’s just a purity of heart up there. I don’t know how else to put it."
Simmons' "I Was Made for Lovin' You" life partner is Canadian-born former Playmate Shannon Tweed, who once lived in the Ottawa area and will be returning with Simmons when KISS plays the Ottawa Bluesfest on July 15.
