Al-Jazeera television is reporting at this hour (4:27 p.m. that the kidnappers holding Sault Ste. Marie's James Loney and three others have agreed to extend their execution deadline by 48 hours.

The original deadline of Thursday has been extended until Saturday to allow the U.S. and British governments to meet their demands for the release of all prisoners.

Accompanying today's report, al-Jazeera showed new video of two hostages in robes and shackles.
