The British Broadcasting Corp. is reporting at this hour (3:57 p.m.) that a new videotape broadcast on Arab TV station Al-Jazeera promises to kill Saultite James Loney and three fellow abducted Christian Peacemaker Team members next week.

The kidnappers are threatening to kill the four hostages unless all prisoners in Iraqi and U.S. detention centres are released.

A note sent with the video to Al-Jazeera insists the demands be met by next Thursday, December 8.

The fresh video (shown) shows one hostage, believed to be Loney, who appears to be eating from a plate of Arab sweets.

Two hostages (not Loney) seem to talking toward the camera, but Al-Jazeera reportedly did not transmit audio.

The Arab station quoted a statement from the kidnappers that the British and American hostages were calling on their respective governments to withdraw from Iraq.

Western media reports indicate the hostages appeared frightened.
