When you're just a kid from Kashechewan like Drelene Nakogee (shown), a place like Sault Ste. Marie can be a bit overwhelming.
Drelene arrived at Sault Ste. Marie Airport a little after 2 p.m. today on an Air Creebec plane carrying about 30 other evacuees from the James Bay community.
The newcomers were offered fresh fruit and other treats by the Canadian Red Cross, and were then taken to the Best Western Hotel on buses loaned by Sault Transit. More than 70 other evacuees are expected to arrive here on other flights today.
