The production manager and four crew members of the movie Snow Cake will be in Wawa later this week to announce their plans for filming there this month.
"The movie is a go," Wawa Mayor Rod Morrison told SooToday.com this morning.
"There's no turning back. I do think it's a feather in Wawa's cap."
As SooToday.com reported on February 1, the film will star three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver, as well as Jennifer Tilley and Alan Rickman, known to Harry Potter fans for his role as Professor Snape.
"There'll be a continuous parade of people coming here over the next few weeks," Morrison said.
"I understand the bulk of the filming will take place during the last ten days of March."
The five-person advance team is expected to arrive at Sault Ste. Marie airport tomorrow afternoon.
They'll drive from there to Wawa.
Last week, the film's location manager took hundreds of photographs at potential filming sites including the Michipicoten Mission, High Falls, Wawa Lake and the Centennial Park area near the high school.
About 60 to 65 people are expected to travel to Wawa this month for the production.
