Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Wawa - Pukaskwa Park
  • White River - Dubreuilville

A long-lasting period of freezing rain resulting in ice accumulation is expected or occurring.

Icy mix of freezing rain and ice pellets developing overnight tonight.

A significant spring storm arrives into the region overnight tonight, bringing moderate freezing rain at times mixed with rain. The freezing rain will progress southeastwards from Marathon towards Wawa before changing back to rain overnight Wednesday.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Utility outages may occur. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to http://www.getprepared.gc.ca/
