Worried that wimpy politicians have given up trying to govern Ontario?

That unelected bureaucrats are running the show?

Then Frank Klees just might be your man.

Klees, a former transportation minister and former minister of tourism and recreation in the Ernie Eves government, came to Sault Ste. Marie today to announce his campaign for the leadership of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party.

It was part of a whirlwind launch tour of the province.

Before he hit the Sault, Klees held similar rallies in Kingsville and Toronto.

He still had campaign engagements planned in Ottawa and Richmond Hill before calling it a day.

Speaking to about 40 party faithful at the Best Western on Great Northern Road, Klees talked about the need to wrest power back from an unelected public service that often pursues its own agendas.

If elected as premier, Klees told SooToday.com, he'll insist that deputy ministers be fired after each election.

They'll be free to re-apply for the same positions, but only those willing to vigorously support the governing party's agenda will be re-hired, he said.

Also seeking the party's provincial leadership are John Tory and Jim Flaherty.

The leadership vote will be held September 18 in Toronto.
