In today's technologically based society it's easy to hold the beauty of the world in your hands. But you miss out on the experience of getting out there and finding it for yourself.

This was one of those nights.

An introvert like myself has little difficulty saying no to my husband's adventurous ways and opt to stay out of the cold curled up with a good book. But he is nothing if not persistent when it comes to getting me to explore with him. And he is always right, that it is worth my while.

We travelled north to what has now become both our favourite spot. Mile marker 1148 marks the trail, right off the highway.

The same spot, but each time we visit, the surroundings look different, as if it was the first time we have seen it.

This particular night, the shores of Lake Superior transformed and surprised us with a landscape of both large smooth bulbous-like formations on its cliffs, and complemented the cliff sides with hidden ice caves filled with beautifully formed icicles.

I usually just stand back and take in the beauty while my husband explores through his lens. In this photo we collaborated our views and produced one of my favourite memories.

Dan eagerly shares his photos and reminds those who see them, that there is beauty all around us, you just need to get out there and see it.
