Former Saultite appointed Detachment Commander for Superior East OPP

North East Region announces that Acting Staff Sergeant Richard Bordin has been promoted to Staff Sergeant and will be the new Detachment Commander of the Superior East OPP Detachment effective July 1, 2019. 

Staff Sergeant Bordin began his career with the OPP in September 1996. His first posting was to the Killaloe Detachment in East Region. In 1997, he transferred to the Thessalon OPP Detachment where he worked for eight years before transferring to his hometown of Sault Ste. Marie.  

From 2008-2010, Staff Sergeant Bordin was seconded to the OPP Drug Enforcement Section and worked as part of their street team. In 2016, he had the opportunity to work as part of the North East Region Critical Incident Stress Response Team as an Acting Sergeant. 

In October 2016, Staff Sergeant Bordin was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and he transferred to the Superior East Detachment (Wawa). In June 2018, Staff Sergeant Bordin became the acting Detachment Commander of the Superior East Detachment. Since his time there, he has been able to develop many new partnerships and relationships with the community and their leaders.
