Former principal, Sergio Iacoe, finally gets to participate in the Korah Collegiate Super Bowl Raffle.

Former Korah Collegiate principal, Sergio Iacoe, has a chance to win the much-anticipated annual Korah PTA Super Bowl Raffle.

That's special because for the last 12 years, Iacoe helped organize the campaign which made him ineligible. (There was no draw last year because of COVID.)

He retired in June 2021.

Along with the many duties that come with being a principal, Iacoe was responsible for raising thousands of dollars to support student activities and initiatives at Korah through the draw.

“I did buy a ticket from Steve Caruso,” said Iacoe. Caruso is the current principal at Korah.

It was not just any ticket. It was ticket #0001, the first of a total of 6,000 tickets to be sold.

Iacoe plans to buy more tickets for his wife and members of his family.

The prize is two coveted Super Bowl tickets, with round trip airfare to Los Angeles, accommodations and other goodies. If he wins, Iacoe promised to take his whole family along.

“It will cost me $10,000 in the end,” he said about the prospects of winning.

It’s Iacoe’s first year of retirement from the board. He is currently working with Community Living Algoma and describes it as a rewarding job much like teaching.

What he misses most about teaching are the students and also getting to know the families. He also has great memories of the staff and everyone at the Algoma District School Board.

When asked to make a prediction about who will be in the big game in February, Iacoe (with apologies to Green Bay and Pittsburgh fans) likes the Rams and Bucs coming out of the NFC and Baltimore, Cleveland or the Bills coming out of the AFC.
