Late Monday night and into the wee hours of Tuesday morning, Goulais Fire and Rescue was warning residents on Bye's Sideroad that their road was underwater and floodwaters were rapidly approaching their homes.

At 11:25 p.m. Monday the Goulais River was four metres above its normal level and rising, Chief Bob Menard told SooToday.com.

Menard said that people on Bye's Sideroad were being advised that everything from Civic Number 184 to the end of the road was underwater.

"The water's up around the homes," Menard told us.

On Monday, the following Goulais River roads were closed:

- Olars Subdivision Road - Friendly Lane - Island Road

Witry Road was closed on Sunday night.

OPP were alerted to the worsening conditions late Monday night.

Until the waters subside, SooToday News has implimented a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week Goulais River floodwatch.

News of any emergency situations will be posted here immediately.
