Five-month road closure to start next Friday on Farwell Terrace

Sault Ste. Marie City Council is expected to award a $570,229 contract Monday to Avery Construction Ltd. for aqueduct repairs on Farwell Terrace.

To accomodate the work, Farwell Terrace will be closed between Wallace Terrace and Devon Road from May 15 until Oct. 21.

Avery was the lowest among four bidders.

Unsuccessful biddders were Trimount Construction ($663,781), Phillips Haulage ($691,517) and Ellis-Don ($859,838).

About 35 metres of small aqueduct will be replaced on Farwell Terrace, one segment at Hocking Avenue and one  segment near Devon Road.

Also included will miscellaneous repairs at the Second Line crossing.

Monday's City Council meeting will be held by teleconference because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting will be livestreamed on SooToday starting at 4:30 p.m.
