Reports indicate someone began shooting shortly after firefighters arrived on the scene of a house fire and were leaving their vehicles.

The gunfire prevented firefighters from extinguishing the flames for several hours.

As a result, the blaze has spread to surrounding structures.

Several homes have been evacuated.
