A fifth employee at Tenaris's Algoma Tubes has tested positive for COVID-19, the company said this afternoon.

In a Facebook post, Tenaris confirmed that two of the five cases identified over the past two weeks are considered workplace transmission.

The tube mill confirmed four cases yesterday.

The company says it is implementing additional measures to reduce further risk of COVID exposure, including:

  • Offering rapid COVID-19 testing on-site
  • Requiring the use of surgical masks versus cloth for greater protection
  • Modifying entrances
  • Increasing the frequency of sanitization of common areas

The Facebook post says that Algoma Public Health is performing contract tracing to identify close contacts.
