CENTRE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND GOOD WORKS

*************************
The Centre for Social Justice and Good Works (the ‘Centre’) will be celebrating its grand opening on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, and invites the community to celebrate with live music and refreshments.

“After almost two years of presentations from community groups to help us understand the pressing needs of the community, we are happy to open our doors and to establish our programming for the enhancement of good works in our community”, says Frank Sarlo, chair for the Board of Directors for the Centre.

The Centre is a non-profit organization with a nine-member Board of Directors, the members of which were chosen for their various commitments to helping others.

The Grand Opening will begin with a concert and a live band and will be held at Precious Blood Cathedral, followed by a reception at the Centre (directly behind the Cathedral, 1 Herrick Street).

Cost of admission to the concert and reception is the promise of a good deed.

Rob Prouse heard about some of the great initiatives and projects that the Centre is working on and wanted to help.

“Our community needs to come together to develop our future leaders, the youth of our city, and the Centre’s leadership skills program will help to do this,” says Prouse.

Prouse Motors has made a $5,000 contribution towards the implementation of the Leadership Skills Development program, expected to start early in 2016.

“Our programs will enhance those currently offered through the educational and social systems” explains Christina Coutu, executive director for the Centre.

The Centre envisions an inclusive, welcoming community in which people are inspired, empowered, and supported to work together to transform society for the greater good through works of service and social justice.

The Centre’s tagline is creating positive change together.
