SooToday received the following message and photos from Candace Zack-Coneybeare regarding a delegation of local youth who travelled to the North American Indigenous Games last month.

Eleven Garden River First Nation youth attended the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) in Regina, Saskatchewan from July 20-27, 2014. 

As one of five teams representing Team Ontario, Garden River First Nation youth came home with silver and bronze medals! 

Four of five teams placed second and third, competing against provinces across Canada, and regions across the USA!

Superior Heights students Aleeya Zack-Coneybeare, Cassie Comfort and Kassy Jones-Lesage came home with bronze medals for their sport of volleyball and basketball.

Geryd Jones-Lesage came home with a silver medal in basketball.

Syanne Jones and Sierra Jones-Mcleod came home with silver medals in basketball.

Garden River First Nation is very proud of our youth who participated and represented our community!
