East end power outage caused by tree contacts on wires

Sault Ste. Marie PUC Distribution says 28 customers are still without power in the area of Malabar from Willow to Great Northern Road.

The unplanned power interruption was caused by tree contacts and affected 490 customers, most of whom have been restored by the time this article was published.

The area affected by the initial outage was Willow, Kent, Rush, Malabar, Eagle, Willoughby, Champlain, Blake, McNabb by Great Northern Road.

"462 customers were restored at 6:25 p.m.," says a PUC Distribution release. "28 remain off."

Call the PUC emergency number at 759-6555 if you are outside this area and your power is off or you have other concerns.
