Earliest opening day for Searchmont set for this week

The 2022-23 ski and snowboard season as Searchmont Resort is set to kick off on Thursday.

It's the earliest opening day on record for the resort.

For the first week, Searchmont is planning to be operational from Thursday to Sunday.

Three of the resort’s 26 trails will be open including Trav’s Trail, 3x4, and The Main with a man-made and groomed base. The Goulais triple lift will be running from 9:30 a.m, to 4 p.m. The learning centre will be open as well with the Lumberjack belt available.

The rest of the trails and lifts are expected to open as the season progresses.

A new triple chair lift, called the Buzzsaw, is set for use this season as well and Searchmont will also feature an upgraded main triple chair lift as well as a new Caribou Cafe in the lodge.

Searchmont is also holding an auction, with all proceeds supporting Autism Ontario, for the first ride on the Buzzsaw.
