Drug investigation leads to six arrests

Warrants were simultaneously executed at a residence on Allens Side Road and at two separate addresses on Goulais Avenue

On Aug. 18, 2016 officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, Crime Suppression Unit and Patrol Services executed 3 Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants in the city of Sault Ste Marie.

The warrants were simultaneously executed at a residence on Allens Side Road and at two separate addresses on Goulais Avenue. 

As a result of this investigation a number of marijuana plants, grow equipment, a small amount of crack cocaine, marijuana and psilocybin (magic mushrooms) were seized with a total street value of $52,650.

The following persons were charged in relation to this investigation:

  1. 35-year-old Kenneth Frigault of Goulais Avenue was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA and two counts of Production of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA
     
  2. 29-year-old John Gibbs of Goulais Avenue was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA and two counts of Production of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA
     
  3. 78-year-old Donald Varcoe of Allens Side Road was charged with one count of Production of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA
     
  4. 55-year-old Rose Varcoe of Allens Side Road was charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA and one count of Production of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA
     
  5. 56-year-old James Hodgkins of Prentice Avenue was charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA
     
  6. 54-year-old Joseph Gibbs of Goulais Avenue has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA and one count of Production of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA

All charged persons will appear in court on Sept. 19.
