********************** Search warrant results in drug seizure

(Little Current, On.) – On Tuesday the 13th December 05 members of the Manitoulin OPP assisted the U.C.C.M. First Nation Police Service in executing a drug search warrant on a vehicle attending Manitoulin Island.

A search warrant was obtained on information received that a 1998 Blue Chevy Lumina was in possession of alleged drugs destined for Manitoulin Island.

Officers from both Police Services observed the vehicle and it was stopped on Highway 6 in Little Current by the swing bridge.

As a result of this traffic stop and search of the vehicle an alleged quantity of cannabis marijuana was seized and two occupants charged with drug criminal offenses.

Charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act is Samson Trudeau age 22 of the Wikwemikong First Nation.

Also charged is Lindsey Cardinal age 21 of the Wikemikong First Nation.

Both suspects were taken into custody and released on a promise to appear for Gore Bay Criminal Court on Monday January 30 to answer to the said charges.

Detective Constable Rendell McDonald of the UCCM Police Service is the investigating officer.
