VIDEO: Driver recounts close call caught on dashcam

It was supposed to be a regular Saturday for Lively resident Jason Gagne. However, the events that transpired on this fateful Saturday has him thanking the driver ahead of him for his, or her, quick thinking.

“I was just coming home from the gym at Lasalle,” Gagne said. 

“People are known to brake unnecessarily at Hwy. 17, so when I saw the car in front of me brake, I was ready to brake,” he said. 

There were no warning signs as to what he saw next.

“This car was trying to pass the transport truck,” he said, “It passed so close to my car that had I not manoeuvred out it would have all ended very tragically.” 

“I am not sure why the car decided to take over the transport truck, it was going the speed limit, and it was a solid yellow line,” Gagne said. 

Gagne’s dashcam camera caught the entire thing on video. Watch the close call in the video above.

“If it wasn’t for the driver ahead of me who made that quick maneuver, I think it would have been a huge mess,” he said. 

“I have a respectable job, I have a wife and two kids and this could all be very tragic,” Gagne said. 

“The driver of the car endangered not only his life but of so many people around them,” he said, “I hope the driver realizes that.”
