NEWS RELEASE

SAULT STE. MARIE DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION

***********************
SAULT STE. MARIE, ONT. - The Downtown Association is proud to announce the Downtown Association Street Party Crowdfunding & Sponsorship campaign. Fundraising will be used to host a unique and dynamic outdoor event on Queen Street E (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) on July 13, 2017.

The reason for crowdfunding and sponsorship is truly two fold.

  1. We want to make this street party the best it has ever been, and we need community partners to make this work.
  2. We want to see our budget stretch further this year, which isn’t the easiest thing to do in today’s climate. We are optimistic with your help this year the Association can take on more and varied projects in the downtown core that everyone will be able to recognize year in and year out.

Sponsoring the Downtown Street Party provides you the unique opportunity to connect with the Algoma region on the street level and show your support of an important cause: the accessibility of community entertainment for all ages, demographics, and statuses. Also, when you donate certain tiers you receive gifts as a thanks from us! Enjoy a t shirt, mug (or) tumbler, lanyard, etc.

Thoughts from downtown members

“The event provides an excellent setting for people of all ages and backgrounds to gather together and enjoy summertime in the city, fostering community pride and strengthening relationships.” -Megan Douglas (Community Career Centre)

“This event was a family friendly, highly attended night in the Downtown Core and is something I have not seen or experienced in a long while.” -Chris McCleod (C.E.O. Nas Guns & Ammo)

About the event

The Downtown Street Party has a reputation for being fun, engaging, and diverse.
In previous years we have offered programing for young families (ex: Pixar screening on the street, bouncy houses, and kids games) young adults (bands and beer tents) as well as features to remind to our 40+ crowd of the roots of Downtown Queen St and what made it cool... (classic car show in heritage square). Last year the party created contract job positions, 35+ volunteers, and nearly 10,000 people saw our social media campaigns. We ignite 142,100 square feet of our downtown, and are proud of it.
