Police say that the dog was in a wooded area off of Parkewood Drive playing with a group of other dogs.
The owner went to check on the dog and discovered it was limping.
The dog was taken to the vet, where it had been discovered that the dog was shot at and hit by a pellet gun.
The dog sustained minor injuries as a result of the shooting.
“It’s obviously very concerning to us when we get reports like that, and although we’re here for the safety of all of our citizens, we’re also here for the safety of the animals that are in our community as well,” said Cnst. Sonny Spina. “We want to do our best to protect them.”
The public is encouraged to contact police if they have any information regarding this incident.
