Does this holiday bazaar count as a trip to the gym? (6 photos)

Local YMCA full of holiday shopping ideas Sunday

More than a dozen vendors set up shop for the 2nd Annual SSM YMCA Holiday Bazaar Sunday, bringing with them a selection of art, beauty supplies and handmade holiday ornaments.

Susan Rajamaki, resource development coordinator for the YMCA of Sault Ste. Marie, says that money raised from the holiday bazaar will go toward the YMCA Strong Kids campaign.

“We provide support for folks that might not necessarily be able to afford the full YMCA fees to participate here in programs,” Rajamaki said.

With similar holiday shopping events springing up before the holiday season, Rajamaki says she’s more than pleased with Sunday’s turnout at the gym.

“The first one last year was a great success, and this year is panning out to be exactly the same,” she told SooToday. “All the vendors have said that they enjoy coming out.”

“Even with all the other events going on in town that we’re competing with, I think we’re getting a good response.”

The first YMCA in North America opened its doors in Montreal on Nov. 25, 1851.
