One week after Sault OPP warned about deer-related automobile collisions, City Police are reporting this morning that such accidents seem to be on the increase within the City limits as well.

They've noticed that most of these accidents happen on Second Line East in the Black Road/McNabb Street area or on Second Line West in the Allen’s Side Road to Town Line vicinity.

"The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service for the past two months has seen a slight increase in the number of vehicle/deer collisions," Sgt. Joe Trudeau says in a news release issued this morning.

"During this time period, the Police Service has investigated seven motor vehicle/deer collisions.

"These collisions usually result in substantial damage to the motorist’s vehicle and the destruction of the animal.

"Motorists are reminded to keep a look out for deer or other wild animals in the ditches and on the roadways in these areas."

A 30-year-old Cathcart Street resident was charged with mischief this morning after a rock was thrown through a window at the Mac's Mart at 179 Gore Street.

And a 14-year-old is charged with assault after his stepfather was kicked in the right arm enough times that there were fears it had been dislocated. This happened after the youth had a privilege revoked as a disciplinary action from something that happened earlier in the day.
