Ditched vehicle leads to dangerous driving charge

Police say their investigation revealed alcohol was a factor in the collision

WAWA – On Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 at approximately 2 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were informed of a single motor vehicle in the ditch located on Highway 17 in the Peever Township.   

At the scene investigation revealed that alcohol was a factor in the collision.

As a result Katrina Wilkinson (30) of Walden, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences;

  • Adult - fail or refuse to provide sample contrary to section 254(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada,

  • Adult - dangerous operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the CCC,

  • Adult - possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis marijuana under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Control Drugs and Substance Act.

A 90 day ADLS was issued to the accused and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released and is to appear at the Ontario court of Justice in Wawa, Ontario on Nov. 7, 2016.
