We thought you'd like to see the new diesel generator that Rogers Radio is installing at its studios at 642 Great Northern Road.

Station engineer Harvey Parent (shown at left) tells SooToday.com that installation of the back-up power generation equipment will be completed sometime next week.

Parent keeps a two-day supply of fuel on site.

The generator will keep the lights on and computers running in the studios of Q104 and EZ Rock in the event of another major power failure.

It's not enough to power the main transmitters of the two stations, but it will operate two low-power transmitters at the studio site that will cover the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Parent says.

Shown with him in our photograph are creative director Paul Hayes and Carol Smith, the station's new assistant engineer.

Ironically, the equipment had been ordered and was due to arrive prior to this month's massive power outage across Eastern North American, but delivery was delayed and the stations were knocked off the air.
