We're passing it on to you, in hope that some of our many thousands of regular readers will be able to help:

***************************** Dear Mr. Helwig: We are hoping you can help us find out if there is any interest in the community for a "Tomira Tribute" we are planning.

If you don't remember Tomira, she was a local seamstress who sold her own fashions locally for many many years.

She was one of the Sault's first and dearest female entrepreneurs.

Her claim to fame was a smock sewn for Queen Elizabeth to wear while touring the Steel Plant in a 50s visit as well as the many bridal gowns and theatre costumes she created.

If there is any way you could publish the request for feedback below, in any way, shape or form, we would greatly appreciate it.

If not, thanks anyway for your thoughtful consideration.

The particulars follow.

***************************** The Ladies of Zion Lutheran Church would like to organize a fashion show tribute to a favourite member, recently deceased, Tomira Sierzputowski.

Before we embark on this large undertaking, we need to know if there is enough interest in the community.

We are looking for "Tomira-made" clothes to borrow for our show.

If anyone has costumes, gowns, work clothes, or other outfits they would consider loaning us for the show, we would love to hear from them.

A video tribute will also be part of the show, so even just a picture or story would be a welcomed addition.

Any profit from the show would be donated to Tomira's church.

Please call Carolyn Fremlin 248-3531, Gloria Lang 254-1247 or email Linda at [email protected]
