Tentative agreement reached on new collective agreement

SAULT STE. MARIE - The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) and the local unit of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) have reached a tentative agreement on a new collective agreement on Thursday, November 22, 2012.

Details of the agreement won’t be released until after ratification by membership of the local OECTA unit and the HSCDSB Board of Trustees.

“We are pleased to have reached this agreement with our permanent teachers. Negotiations were productive and respectful and kept the needs of our students front and centre,” said HSCDSB Director of Education John Stadnyk.

“We believe that a fair deal was negotiated for our members within the parameters of the Memorandum of Understanding. The negotiating team hopes to bring it to the membership for ratification on December 11,” said OECTA Local President Marcie Tombari.

The HSCDSB board of trustees is scheduled to vote on the tentative agreement at its December 12 meeting.
