Crash closes Highway 17 at Desbarats (updated)

5:50 p.m. update

OPP advises that Highway 17 is open in both directions.

1 p.m. update

OPP would like to advise motorists that one lane of Highway 17 is now open to traffic.

The other lane is expected to remain closed until approximately 4 p.m.

12:45 p.m. update

Highway 17 remains closed in both directions following a single vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer in Desbarats Wednesday morning. 

The East Algoma detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) tells SooToday that officers are currently working to open one lane to traffic at this time. 

No injuries have been reported. 

East Algoma OPP responded to the collision shortly after 10 a.m.

A collision has closed Highway 17 in both directions near Desbarats.

According to Ontario 511, the crash took place at Boyer Drive.

The highway has been closed since around 11 a.m.
