Soo councillors are going back to the drawing board after their bid for Ontario SuperBuild funds for a multi-use spectator and trade centre was initially rejected.

Bill Kriesel, manager of SuperBuild's Sports, Culture and Tourist Partnerships, has advised the City that it submitted a good application, but SuperBuild was concerned about a lack of private partnerships and the amount of subsidization proposed.

However, deadline for applications has been extended to Feb. 15 and Sault Ste. Marie has been encouraged to send in a revised application. Council decided Monday night to ask the local Arena Study Review Committee to take another crack at an application.
