Corbiere family notified body found near Georgina Island

Members of Batchewana's Corbiere family have been advised today that a body has been found near Georgina Island on Lake Simcoe. Gary Corbiere, a Toronto-area lawyer and son of a well-known local chief, has been missing since 6 p.m. on Monday.

Gary Corbiere, a Toronto-area lawyer and son of a well-known local chief, has been missing since 6 p.m. on Monday.

He was last seen leaving Virginia Beach Marina and is thought to have been on his way to a reserve on Georgina Island.

A body was discovered between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. today in the water by a resident of the island.

Family members have been asked to come to the police station there for identification purposes.
