ALGOMA FAMILY SERVICES

Let’s turnip the fun on family mealtime!

SAULT STE. MARIE - Algoma Family Services’ Student Nutrition Program is getting ready to celebrate Nutrition Month in March. A contest will be held for students throughout the Algoma District, and all they need to do is get a little creative with their fruits and veggies to “take the fight out of food” and answer the question, “How Can You Make Food Fun?”

Students must answer the question in creative way, by creating a sculpture using healthy foods provided and submit a picture. Judges will determine which entries are the most creative and fun. The top winners from three grade categories (JK - Grade 3, Grades 4 - 8, Grades 9 - 12) will be awarded great prizes!

Schools can register between Feb. 24 and Mar. 3. Registered schools will then receive their food the week of Mar. 20 and the contest runs Mar. 20 to Apr. 6. Submission deadline is Apr. 7, 2017. All entries must include the student’s first name, school name and grade in the email submission with a picture of their sculpture attached.

All entries can be submitted to:
[email protected]

Please Note: All decisions are FINAL. Entries may also be used for promotional purposes by the Student Nutrition Program.

The AFS Student Nutrition Program works to improve the learning capacity, health and well-being of children by ensuring students have access to healthy food through school- based nutrition programs. The program provides assistance to schools implementing nutritious morning meals, snacks and lunches.
