Sault-based Clute & Associates has been retained by the City to complete an international relations strategy.

Doug Clute will be assisted by Art Osborne, Michael DiAngelo and Ken Campbell, who will receive $30,000 to develop the strategy under the direction of the City's International Relations Strategy Committee.

Objectives include the following:

- To ensure that Sault businesses receive help to become export-ready or to develop alliances with foreign companies

- To ensure that Sister City relationships develop beyond cultural exchanges, with agreements that specifically target economic and business development goals

- To ensure that citizens, businesses and municipal representatives all maintain a positive attitude toward international opportunities for growth

- To explore opportunities to attract more post-secondary students to the Sault, and to allow Canadian students to study abroad through foreign exchange programs. Korah Collegiate's proposed International Baccalaureate Program could play a role in these programs.

- To explore the possibility of marketing the Sault's elementary and secondary school programs abroad on a fee-for-service basis
