Company owner faces charges in crash that killed OPP officer

BLIND RIVER – On February 13, 2014, at 6:50 a.m., a collision between a motor vehicle and transport truck on Highway 17, Blind River, resulted in the death of David Dennie, 36, of Blind River.

The company was initially charged with one Highway Traffic Act related charge. 

As a result of the ongoing investigation the owner, Ian FUMMERTON, 57, of ABI Trucking of Thunder Bay was additionally charged with:

  • Criminal Negligence causing death contrary to section 220(b) of the Criminal Code.

The driver and company owner are both scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 3, 2014 in Blind River. 

The investigation is now complete but follow up is ongoing.
