Commercial traffic, an indicator of strengthening cross-border economic growth, remains steady at 3.7 per cent as compared to 2016. Commercial revenue is 42.4 per cent of the total earned revenue of $3.04 million USD.

Local commuters make up the largest traffic category at 46.4 per cent, and receive a favorable crossing toll for as little as $2.45 USD or $3.22 CDN. The commercial traffic per-axle rates by comparison are $4.50 USD or $5.85 CDN. For a full list of toll rates, please visit www.saultbridge.com.

The International Bridge self-funds operations with toll revenue. Operations include the bridge structure, the Bridge Authority plaza, all maintenance facilities, and all ongoing building support costs and maintenance for the Canada Border Services Agency facility.

As for the construction of the Canadian Plaza Redevelopment Project, it is a Canadian capital project which is financed separately by The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL), through the Canadian Gateways and Border Crossings Fund.

The bridge has processed 99.09 million bridge crossings since 1962, and will exceed the 100 million crossing milestone early in 2018.
